ABOUT US

Our Story

Hello there! I'm Kelley Underwood, a proud Texan calling Brenham home, where Blue Bell Ice Cream reigns supreme. My culinary journey has woven through the Lone Star State, from Houston to Austin and various charming towns in between. Food and cooking have always been my passions, starting at the tender age of five when I'd sweet-talk my mom into letting me "experiment cook" in the kitchen. I was drawn to all things culinary, from watching luminaries like Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet on TV to attending frying pan demos at Montgomery Ward. Food was my calling!

 

My cooking career took off at a non-profit ladies' club, where I became the kitchen manager, crafting menus and pricing. From intimate gatherings to serving groups of 12 to 350, we hosted luncheons, and dinners, and even had a charming Tea Room offering delectable soups, finger sandwiches, and salads. Later, I ventured into the world of a private "City Club," collaborating with Culinary Institute of America-trained chefs. I had the privilege of honing my skills in every corner of the kitchen, gaining invaluable insights into the art of fine dining.

I'll be sharing straightforward recipes for appetizers, soups, spreads, pimento cheeses, entrees side dishes, and more.

Bruce and I share a love for cooking and creation. We relish trying out new restaurants, from hidden gems to upscale dining establishments. You never know where you'll discover that spark of inspiration! I'll keep you updated on our whereabouts at farmers' markets.
